Vacation Continued

Don’t Forget to read I’m Back first!

So continuing on the vacation story. About 3/4 of the way down to the campground it started to storm really really hard. The tents and stuff were on top of the car. When we got there it was pouring, lightning was striking a few yards away, and the wind was so hard the flagpole was bending! We sent inside of the main offices and waited until the rain let up a little. Then the owners told us the campsite they had reserved for us was flooded so they were going to give us a new site.

We drove through the campground (which was HUGE) until we got to our campsite. It was all muddy and wet, but it wasn’t really raining anymore. As it was twilight we really wanted to get set up before it got dark and since we’ve been camping together since I was born we all knew what to do. Once the tent was set up, my dad started to put the stakes in. I still don’t know how he managed it, and I don’t think he could do it again if he tried, but somehow he managed to put a 6 in plastic stake through a 1 1/2 in water pipe! Now we had a geyser spurting up into our tent and all over the site! We called the managers and they came with all sorts of things to fix the pipe. One of them said that he had never ever seen anything like that before. By the time they fixed it it was dark and we set up by headlight.

The next day we realized that I had forgotten my bathing suit! So we had to go out and get one. That ended the crazy adventures. We did get sunburned, but who doesn’t. We also went on a whale and dolphin watch and saw really cute baby dolphins. When dolphins are babies they’re jet black and bee-youtiful.

I’m Back!!!

I’m back and OH MY GOODNESS was this vacation interesting! It started out as the vacation from hell. Honestly it was THE worst start I’ve ever had. Then it morphed into an ok trip. Then on the way home it got annoying again. The upside to this is now I’ve got fun stories to tell! (Yay!)

OK so we were supposed to leave on sunday after putting the dog in the kennel (sniff) on saturday. My father didn’t tell my mother that she was supposed to go to the vet to get this specific shot for the dog and get a bunch of paperwork so she neglected to do that. Then it became too late so we decided to just put her in on sunday. Sunday came and went without us going becuase we’re busy doing stuff that should have been done on thurday friday and saturday. Monday comes. I’m still haven’t packed, so I start doing that while the rest of the family goes to the storage space to get the tent and other stuff we’ll need. When we’re done packing the car all of my family except my dad get in. He goes around the back of the jeep to shut the back and we hear Oh S**t!!! Now my dad doesn’t curse unless something is really really wrong. I’ve heard him curse only a few times in my life. He says someone PLEASE open the back. He had shut his fingers in the trunk! I go around the back to help, but he had opened it then because he didn’t see me he slammed it with unnecessary force. Guess who had their fingers RIGHT in the way of the trunk door and thus got their fingers slammed in the trunk…….That’s right! Me!!! I start screaming bloody murder and I live in a very urban area so there’s tons of people sticking their heads out of the windows. Then the trunk got stuck and wouldn’t open! I stood there for about 5 minutes in pain before it opens. (totally off subject but there’s a really cool thunderstorm going on right now. It really close and it hailed for awhile just now my poor dog is so scared! back to your regular program folks)

Now both my dad and I have large cuts and I’m developing a blood blister. My mom (a nurse) found out that my dad (a paramedic) isn’t current with his tetanus shot so she calls his doctor who tells her that he doesn’t have that shot that he’s on back order so Dad has to go to the ER. Now in either of the ER’s near us there’s a big wait unless it’s something serious. Now we’re looking at quite a few hours before we can even get the dog to the kennel! We drive over to the ER and because my dad is a paramedic he’s there all the time. He goes in and a nurse he knows says what happened to you? He tells her and she bumps him up to the top. That saved us a ton of time.

This is the beginning of my trip before I’ve even left ________ County!!! I’m gonna post the rest up soon, but alas I must go do dishes.

Vacation

From Monday to Sunday I will be camping on the Cape May Beach in New Jersey. Yay! Fun! I won’t post for about a week as I won’t have any internet. Happy week! Congratulations to Joe and Joy who got married today!

GAGA

GAGA. Sounds like a baby right? googoo gaga? NOPE! it’s an art festival. GAGA! It’s right near me. My friend from music got us all invited to play (8 of us). We’re playing outside and the high today is 95 degrees! I hope we play well, at the rehearsal yesterday we did ok but not anywhere near how we usually play. We have to play for a solid hour. Luckily each person doesn’t have to play every song and it’s pretty fair who plays what. I’m kind of nervous because there’s going to be a lot of professional musicians there. And then there’s us. Not professional. Kids. From 12-16. Talented but not amazingly so. OK I’m gonna stop freaking out now.

My family decided we’re going to go to the beach. This is a really really unusual thing for our family. We’re most definitely NOT the beach type. I’ve never vacationed at the beach in my entire life. My father’s dream vacation (done once before) is to go to alaska. We almost moved there when I was younger. However the third week in June will be spent in Cape May, New Jersey. I can’t wait! In order to reconcile the not-our-family vacation with the normally-our-family vacation we will be tent camping. I’m fine with this. I love to camp and I love the beach so…. YAY!

Different Projects

•June 2, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Yesterday I went to my LYS and picked up two yarns for two specific projects. I got Baby Ull for my Merletto Mitts for the Fingerless Glove Fanatics KAL and I got some Baby Cashmerino to do a test knit for someone. Now I just have to start them! I am almost done with my Irish Hiking Wrist Warmers, I just have to figure out how to do mattress stitch in the round. They were a really quick and easy knit. I finished them in just a couple of hours. Anyhow that’s the knit update :)

So about a month ago my younger (by 6 years) sister decided it was a good idea to open ALL the drawers in her dresser and start climbing on them. She did not think that it would be a problem, even with the 10 gallon fish tank on top… Well at 1:00 AM I was sitting in my room (which used to be a storage room until I appropriated it. it still isn’t cleaned out) knitting when I heard a blood curdling scream. I thought she had broken an arm or a leg. So I go running in, my parents are just behind me, and I see her soaking wet. Her fish tank was on the floor and her carpet and all the stuff she had on the floor were absolutely soaked! 10 gallons of water on her bedroom floor which is just above the kitchen! We soaked up as much as we could and amazingly all the fish survived. This was good however there was the problem of the aftermath

I had been angling to get my room cleared out from all the storage so I could re-do it for the entire year I’d been in there. Now that wasn’t an option because we had to do J’s room. The promise was as soon as we were done with her room we’d do mine. I said ok. We started to clean her room out and most of the stuff from her room found its way into mine. It got so bad I couldn’t even get in anymore and now I’ve been sleeping on the couch for the past month or so. Her room is finally done (almost) and it looks completely different. Now maybe my room will get done *crosses fingers*. Anyhow I have no idea what color scheme to do with it. It’s a small room and so it’s got to be light. I like black and grey and white and some blues. I’ll just have to think hard!

Branching Out

•May 21, 2008 • Leave a Comment

So I started Branching Out from knitty today with some Rowan Kid Classic. It’s really been quite fun. I’ve had to frog a couple of times but because I did the wrong stitch. It’s my first lace project and I hope it turns out pretty!

Taking A Break

•May 19, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I’ve decided that I need to take a break on the fetchings since I’m not enjoying knitting them. I really want to get them done but if I don’t like knitting something my gauge changes and I can’t have that happen! I want to finish winding my lace weightish and do my first lace project. That should be fun and challenging! I don’t really want to do Branching Out though. I’ll have to think about what I should do!

Rambling on and on

•May 16, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I haven’t written in awhile. I finished lacy hat today! I’m trying to get all of my WIPs done so I can start new things. Since I have a ballet performance tomorrow I plan to get my Fetchings done then. They would have been long done but I keep dropping stitches and I don’t know how to carefully frog back cables. Any suggestions? So I ripped everything out 3 times. I was halfway or more done each time! *SCREAMS* I just hope I can get it done tomorrow!
